With the availability of zPDT Version 1.5 (driver level 47.10 or later) the authentication process has changed.
You will need a working token to run the z1090 software.
If you are using more than one token on your system, remove any tokens other than the one you are updating.
You must not have a zPDT system/instance running when you run the request or update step.
It may be possible to use a REQ file from the previous year activation request. Our observations indicate that this is possible and would not require a system outage to create a new request file. We recommend you keep the request file and try submitting it as it may work just as well.
zPDT should not be active when using Z1090_ADCD_install to decrypt zPDT volumes.
zPDT version 1.5 (driver 47.10) and later
The z1090 software must be installed on your Linux machine. The installation can be done without using the token. You will need a working token to run the z1090 software.
Connect your token to a USB port (on your 1090 machine). If you are using more than one token on your system, remove any tokens other than the one you are updating. Note: You must not have a zPDT system/instance running when you do this request.
Open a Gnome or Xfce terminal/command (text mode) window
The Z1090_token_update program must be run in root mode. Use the “ su - “
command to change to root mode. Provide the root password when prompted.
Change to the /usr/z1090/bin directory: “cd /usr/z1090/bin “
Execute the Z1090_token_update program with a –r option and the desired filename (with full path) of the request file to be created. Prefix the name of the program with “./” to tell Linux to execute it from the current directory.
NOTE: You should include the token serial number as part of the request file name to provide better tracking and identification. It is also a good idea to include your company name as part of the request file name.
Attach the request file to an email and send it to: support@itconline.com
Put
together, the sequence would look like this in the Gnome or Xfce
terminal window:
ITC will process your request file and you will receive an ITC e-mail with two attached files, a .upw and a .zip file. You will use the .zip file to update your token and can discard the .upw file. (The .upw file is intended only for pre-Version 1.5 systems.)
With your z1090 token connected to a USB port on your 1090 machine. If you are using more than one token on your system, remove any tokens other than the one you are updating. Note: You must not have a zPDT system/instance running when you do this update.
Transfer the update file to your zPDT machine.
Open a Gnome or Xfce terminal/command (text mode) window
The Z1090_token_update must be run in root mode. Use the “ su - “ command to
change to root mode. Provide the root password when prompted.
Change to the /usr/z1090/bin directory: “cd /usr/z1090/bin “
Execute the Z1090_token_update program with a -u option and the filename and full path to the update file. Prefix the name of the program with “./” to tell Linux to execute it from the current directory.
You should see multiple “Success” messages indicating the token has been updated.
After the z1090 token has been successfully updated, unplug the token from the system, wait about 30 seconds (or longer) and then reinsert the token into the system. You must physically remove the 1090 from the USB port and re-insert it before the 1090 server application will recognize the change. If this is not possible then a reboot of your system will also have the same effect. The updated token is now ready for use.
To verify the decryption licenses have been applied, use the –status option of the
Z1090_token_update command: “./Z1090_token_update –status“
Leave root mode: “exit”
Your token is now ready to use.
